Yeah, i will believe it when i see it. I think the papers make a lot of stuff up, but if its true then it should give the players that are under-performing a shock.

Interesting that Gary Moran and Neil Black will back Paul Adey in any changes he want's to make so early in the season. I wonder if it's aimed at the established players i.e Cadotte, Ahroos etc.... as a kick up the bum or the new players i.e Kalmikov, Krulis.
If changes are made and a couple of players are shipped out, then once again people will question certain individuals as to their coching ability and thoroughness of scouting reports etc......
In the past the Panthers Management have been reluctant to make changes...so this will be a new concept and one which should be applauded because the comfort zone that some players fall into, has been the main reason why Panthers trophy cabinet has seen little action over the years.

Quote "An agent has been in touch with us and there are some exceptional players out there looking for work," said Moran.
Then could we go out and get one of these exceptional players please? Maybe a new D-Man? I can see one who's already at the club that I wouldn't call exceptional and I'd guess that he's not the lowest paid Non Brit. If there are better players out there due to the lockout, then GO GET (if the price is right) If it is just smoke and mirrors then I'm sorry, we've seen it before.

TBH I don't think anybody will get axed....
GM and PA seem to say this every year.

Yeah i agree, IF there are better players out there that want to play for panthers GO GET THEM
These players are players than can stay the whole year by the looks of it as well and won't be going back to their teams at christmas like cardiff's NHL'er)
yeah they say it every year but they never say they have better players who can replace them lined up.

TBH 'smoke and mirrors' is exactly what I think it is as well.
You have probably the best British line in the league, and thats what the EIHL effectively was created to encourage and foster. You haven't yet (unless I'm much mistaken), lost to Dundee Fife and Hull... but you DID turn the Flames over 7-2, and now GM wants to threaten peoples jobs?
AFAIK The best we've done against BNL opposition so far is beating the Vipers 4-1...so I guess I don't see (by comparison) what GM feels he has to moan about.
Did he help to sign these same players that he and PA now want rid of?
And as regards thse 'exceptional players who are out there, all apparently scrambling for the right to earn a starting spot in British Ice Hockey, isn't this the sort of billing that people like Tvordon were given?
And how are you going to afford them with expensive imports on the roster already?
So I'd be tempted to stick with what you've got, and see if they don't take you the "extra mile". Because in the recent derby game at the HOS, there were periods when you EASILY the better team.
I thought this sort of 'win the cup in six games flat or your'e sacked' nonsense was the exclusive preserve of soccer...apparently not.
..but anytime you don't want Mr.Craighead..
..but of course, we couldn't afford him.

I don't think anyone needs axeing at this moment in time, and to axe a player or players now, would be harsh.
I think some people have looked at the signings we made during the summer and have seen NHL and AHL and automatically got themselves believing said players will score goals after goals after goals every game.
Aint gonna' happen folks.

Over the years some of our best players over a season have taken quite a while to settle in. I believe that GM and PA are looking to some players to up their work rate. This is the reason for the message. IMHO

If it was me I gotta say 3 players that would be gone. 2 D men and one foraward who played NHL last year! Talking of him playing NHL last year, I got NHL 2004 on playstation 2 and cant get on with it all, maybe I should ask him, as at times that looks like the only NHL hes been playing

well If adey and Moran have had a agent contact them(which is quite likely) and we can afford the players, then we should make the changes and bring in the better players.

This is the reason for the message. IMHO I think the players that are coming in for the most...criticism wuld have to be Kalmikov & Tvrdon. The latter, I believe, was hyped up so much this summer by Panthers & I can see why they did it. But didn't he have an injury hit year last season? Injury hit season, to one where he's dubbed NHL star signs for PanthersAs for Kalmikov. I don't think he gets as much stick as Roman, mainly due to him turning in performances that are perceived to be ok. Personally, I would like to see Kon [glow=red,2,300]NOT[/glow] being played on the PK, as he isn't that sort of player. He's big, but has never played with a physical nature to his game. But, Paul's the coach & knows more about it than I do

well If adey and Moran have had a agent contact them(which is quite likely) and we can afford the players, then we should make the changes and bring in the better players. Is it that easy though? Remember, the players have all signed Contracts which the club will have to abide by, I guess it all depends on the terms of those Contracts. I'd be surprised if players like Tvrdon etc have signed a deal whereby the club can axe them at extremely short notice without some form of compensation. The question then has to be asked, does a compensation payment count towards the wage-cap? Just imagine if the Panthers are currently on the wage-cap limit and they're paying Tvrdon £15,000 for the season. If they terminated his Contract and compensated him in the sum of £5,000, that may only leave £10,000 available for a new player. I don't know what the answers are to the above, but I'd be very surprised if it's so easy to get rid of a player unless they're only on trial (like Ciccarrelo is with us at the moment). I certainly wouldn't travel half way around the world knowing there was the possiblity of the club gassing me at the first sign of any trouble, I'd want terms and conditions in my Contract protecting me against such an eventuallity. The question then has to be asked, does a compensation payment count towards the wage-cap? I would imagine it would have to count, as a payment of money has been made to a player during that season. Not 100% sure though,to be fair.

Jinman got a large amount of compensation last year from Timra, because someone i know is good friends with him, and told me that Timra found a better player that left Jinman out of the team, so they offered him an amount of compensation to leave his contract early. Thats why he came back to Panthers and took a wage cut, because of the money Timra had paid him.

Unless their agents have done a poor job I'd expect that the club would have to buy out a players contract if the club decide they no longer need them.
If a player is sacked then the club wouldn't pay them any more. Sacking is probably as difficult for them as for any company though if it's going to be done legally as there has to be grounds for it. Generally speaking once you've employed a useless *$^*! beyond any trial period they're a real pain to get rid of.
Not that I'm suggesting any of our current players qualify as a useless *$^*!.

TBH I don't think anybody will get axed.... GM and PA seem to say this every year. to be fair, they never say it quite to this extent. They usually hint at it as a warning but havent come out with an article stating such since the days of Adolfsson. This also isnt the first time that theyve hinted at it this year. Go onto the Panthers homepage and look at the story about us signing Marek Ivan: "I hope we've made our last signing of the year" Hmmmm.....

I remember at one point last season, i think it was around christmas time, not too sure though, there was an interview with Paul Adey and he said that there was certain import players that should be performing better and was getting too big for there boots, and he let them know that, and said that if they didnt improve then changes would be made and new faces would come into the team. I think a lot of it is just to scare the players into performing better.

Quote from Gary Moran: "It's hardly surprising David Clarke is our leading goalscorer. He is on a line with fellow Brits and they are all working very hard for each other and actually look like they want to win.
that is sooooo true, but why can't the others do the same?
Foreigners eh!

Ladies and Gentlemen
We have just completed week 4 of a 28 week regular season.
Is Gary Moran/Panthers going to axe any players at this stage...No
Has Gary Moran (whom you all know I have great admiration for) flogged this Brit thing to death..YES
Forget about Panthers leading the pack when it comes to Brits.
Sheffield have iced 13 (yes 13 count 'em) Brits this season so far, Coventry have iced 9, and so on , and so on.
Bury the Brit thing Gary. Its history. For sure Clarke is having a good spell, but lets also remember he was awful at times last year.
If Gary starts picking out individuals that ceratinly wont help 'teamwork'
Regards
HL
