Dear oh dear... BJ, I think we need a resident Cage doctor, seems we have a couple of members with a bad case of whingeitis Texpef, Therpay, I don't know about your marital/family status, but just picture a little scene for me... Imagine you had a little girl. She completely loved hockey, particularly one Panthers player (lets call him Bob.) Bob was her idol. She found out there was a Meet the Players and spent the two weeks before bouncing around the house and telling anyone who would listen she was going to meet Bob. You arrive at the venue of the event, and your little girl follows you inside, clutching her hockey shirt to be signed and a camera for a photo (complete with spare batteries, just to be on the safe side). You spot Bob and walk up to him and, as your girl looks on in delight and expection, say "Hi Bob, could my little girl have a photo with you please?"... ...and Bob looks round, says "No," and turns back to talk to his mate. Your little girl is gutted, and spends the journey home in tears. Now, I would think (hope!) that that would make you more annoyed with Bob than if he missed a shot that would win you a cup. These events may not be your cup of tea (I know you said otherwise Therapy) but some people enjoy them. As Wigwam said, they don't cause any problems. I reckon that this years group of guys have and will make the day of hundreds of kids (and adults!) just by signing an autograph or having a photo. Wheres the harm in that? [Edited to fit Shin...Tell...anton thingy's specification ;D]

have attended several of these meet the players nights and can agree they can be a laugh they do make a change to four walls however and the point i was trying to make was i couldnt care less if the players have the wit of tommy cooper, the social graces of james bond or the the friendliness of paul daniels the reality of the situation is they are here to win hockey games. The bottom line is thats what i want to see them do. For your info i do have a young daughter and yes i would be upset if her fav player didnt pass the time of day with her at events like this BUT cold light of day some players are friendly and some arent. How friendly they are doesnt matter when they are winning hockey games for the black and gold. If said player was not nice to her i would cheer her up and get her to move on however if her player was really nice to her yet was useless on the ice i would be more disappointed as competitive hockey is just that about being competitive.

We could have signed several totally obnoxious a******s for all I care as long as they did the job on the ice!

For heaven's sake moaners - shut it!
This post was about a great 'non ice hockey playing' evening with the guys. It was a good evening and it was enjoyed by many.
If you want to moan about what happens on ice then

There should be no negativity over nights like these ! It's great PR. Of course we all want the Panthers to win games and trophies, but there is no connection what-so-ever with that and these sort of evenings.
For the record, Mrs. BlackburnHawk and I and daughter #2 had a great time.....autographs and photo's abounded ! All the players were sociable and didn't seem in the least bit interested in being somewhere else ! Let's face it, they must really enjoy the adulation they get from us punters.
And, of course, the main highlight was Mrs. BlackburnHawk getting her handbag (remember the one bought in Spain in the summer ?) with the #27 on it signed by the man himself ! Not to mention the attention daughter #2 got from all the players, especially JC & Paul M. !

Dear oh dear... BJ, I think we need a resident Cage doctor, seems we have a couple of members with a bad case of whingeitis Texpef, Therpay, I don't know about your marital/family status, but just picture a little scene for me... Therapy is the name, married baby on the way you had a little girl. She completely loved hockey, particularly one Panthers player (lets call him Bob.) Bob was her idol. She found out there was a Meet the Players and spent the two weeks before bouncing around the house and telling anyone who would listen she was going to meet Bob. She is very lucky to get to meet her idols, yes thats true You arrive at the venue of the event, and your little girl follows you inside, clutching her hockey shirt to be signed and a camera for a photo (complete with spare batteries, just to be on the safe side). Thats never gonna happen though is it, the players are paid to be there and told and paid to smile and be polite. , I would think (hope!) that that would make you more annoyed with Bob than if he missed a shot that would win you a cup. Thats questionable These events may not be your cup of tea (I know you said otherwise Therapy) but some people enjoy them. As Wigwam said, they don't cause any problems. I reckon that this years group of guys have and will make the day of hundreds of kids (and adults!) just by signing an autograph or having a photo. Wheres the harm in that? Theres in no harm whatsoever in that, as i have posted on here. I totally agree with Texpef on this, the players are paid to WIN hockey games, if they sign autographs then thats nice, if they attend player meets then also thats nice. However if they dont win hockey games then thats something completley different, or are you of the view that as long as they are a great set of guys, what they do on the ice is irrelevant. The daughter you mentioned in your little scene is v lucky to get to meet her favorite player, had she been a fan of football, or a big tv show this opportunity would not have been available to her. Seems like a witch-hunt, say anything wrong about the club and you all start a flame war. I WANT TO WIN GAMES AND TROPHIES PERIOD.

I WANT TO WIN GAMES AND TROPHIES PERIOD. Then I suggest you address your complaints and suggestions to Gary Moran directly. He is better placed than us to action them and you might upset fewer people along the way.

If Gary can't help satisfy your craving for success and trophies then I can only suggest you start supporting Arsenal instead.
