Because he mentioned something about it a couple of days ago with no confirmation about it, having looked round, I can't see any confirmation that he has even now... a little help?

To be announced Tuesday apparently. Someone got it from his agent on Steeltalk, why the club decided to wait a week before announcing it...who knows.

has this actually been annnouced yet, or is it just me being blind? You're not going blind... Interestingly, I swear that (in the GB commentary) Dave Simms said that there would be a signing announcement for Sheffield (either this D-man or another player) last week... but nothing happened. Is Dave Simms talking cobblers? (hah - is water wet? ;D) Are the Steelers having 'issues' getting signatures? Or does it mean nothing...?

Nothing announced yet.
The latest from the dark side is that Squires will be given a regular spot, Bolibruck is probably not going back. Rebound is weighing up his options and Talbot may retire.

Why leave north america to come back here? thought he was doing good over there Hmmm, he's holding down a regular ECHL shift and whatnot but I heard he was struggling to get called up to the AHL and get regular ice when he was there. It's a hard one to call - stay in the ECHL continue to get your name out there with the chance of a call up, or come back to the EIHL where you're widely regarded as one of the best and have home comforts. He's in Australia for their hockey season now but it will be interesting to see what he plumps for.

good point shags but we will know if they are serious if he signs for them lot wont we?... Not really. The fact that the Panthers do not sign this player or that player doesn't mean that they are not "serious". There could be all sorts of reasons for not signing him. The club may feel that he doesn't fit the mix of players that they want, or that the costs outweight the benefits. The player could decide that another club offers more money, better prospects, better other incentives... he might want to play on the same team as another player, might prefer to play for a different coach, whatever. Early last season, some said that the Panthers should have signed Hoffman, instead of him going to Belfast. Some said pretty much the same thing when Cardiff brought in Weller. Hey - what silverware did those two teams win last season? - naff all. We got two trophies. So, going by the results, we were more 'serious' than they were. They finished above us in the league, but as we keep getting told... anything other than first place is meaningless, right? (I don't believe that myself, but I find it amusing to use that argument against the people who make it ;D). Good players sign for other teams. This is a given - and nothing to get worked up about, or to judge the team on.

we all know Shaggy no matter how you cut it up the panthers team that started the season was far far weaker than the one that finished it, now one way to look at this was we used our spending power to improve the team to the required level.... Another would be why the hell was our team below the quality of others at the start of the season.
Personally i would prefer not to be the weakest of the top teams to start next season...

Another would be why the hell was our team below the quality of others at the start of the season. Wht? Because the recruiting plan (as far as we can tell, anyway) didn't work. Bring in younger 'hungrier' players and turn 'em loose, and supplement that with some more experienced players. It worked with Sproat, but he left. It worked with Ryan, it worked with Lepine. It didn't work with McDonald. It didn't work with Penner. On the more experienced players... it worked with Beauregard, it didn't work with Zion. Plus we got unlucky with Jay Henderson being injured. So.. the recruitment mostly worked... just didn't in a couple of cases. Plus we had bad luck (Sproat and Henderson - and Levers missing the early part of the season) plus the whole coaching mess. As usual... no single answer. Ditto, but let's not make any assumptions just yet, shall we?

The agent representing both Phillips brothers tweeted that they would both be announced by clubs last week as well. Rumours are that Kevin has signed for Sheffield, David for Coventry.

I think David Phillips would be a great signing especially if we lose Matt Myers.
With David, Danny and Stevie we would then only need 3 import D men meaning we would have 6 import forwards, With no other british forwards in Myers class still available I would say that for me this is the best way to go.
However I would think there is quite a bit of credibility in the rumour he could be Coventry bound

something i dont understand, how the hell can coventry afford a player like Dave Philips given the quality of brits they already have signed and as neither Meyers or Myers have put pen to paper if we lose one or either of those then we will be severely depleted in the brit department...

I can think of three possibilities there:- 1) The rumour is cobblers and they aren't signing him 2) Their budget of imports is going to be somewhat reduced 3) Contrary to the blinkered protestations of the Blaze fans, they are (again? ) going to massively overspend above the alleged wage cap Take your pick! ;D

Personally, I think it's bobbins - Thommo's more or less said that he was done with his Brits signings when announcing Griffin, Farmer, Nell and Venus. As for the wage-cap - I don't recall seeing many Blaze fans suggesting that we have ever been under the wage-cap - thats your bag, Shaggy (and if believing that Blaze have won 4 championships whilst outspending the big boys makes you feel better then by all means carry on!). Like most I suspect that it's realistic to surmise that Blaze spending is behind that of Nottingham, Sheffield, Belfast and on a par with Cardiff. Especially now we know that the club had no money to sign any replacements during last terms injury crisis!
