The IIHF has this to say: Now if that applies to Assistant coach is open to interpretation. Part 5 has been added for clarification

The IIHF has this to say: Now if that applies to Assistant coach is open to interpretation. As has already been stated this is the exact reason why Brent Hughes relinquished the Captaincy of Dundee halfway through the season. If Cook is Assistant Coach then he has to give up the Captaincy, however I would imagine that the way round this would be to name the bench coach as the official assistant coach leaving Cook eligible to Captain the side and assist with the coaching. Wasn't this how Bruce was allowed to be one of our alternates?? Didn't think Bruce was in either year for us.

I don't think Bruce was, I thought it was; 08/09: Meyers C, Clarke & Myers A 09/10: Meyers C, Clake & Bergin/McAslan A IIRC?

IIRC Corey was an Alternative Capitan in his first season here, but then had to give it up when he became assistant coach to Mike Ellis the following season.

There are rules? and what is the punishment for breaking this rule?
Is it just not pointless being Assistant coach and C or A?
Here's my idea for a rule: NO ONE TALKS TO THE REF AT ALL, if they do the face off moves down to their zone, or a 2 min minor if the face off is already in that zone. Would cut the yabber out over night. Let the Refs concentrate on getting the calls right, not justifying themselves to whiners.

Thing is though sometimes it's necessary to talk to the refs because they are only human and can miss stuff too. They can also ask to speak to the captains if they see fit. I still reckon if talking to the ref was banned Lobby may as well retire...one thing i noticed at EPL playoffs was that his style hasn't changed since leaving the Vipers at all. He still spends most of a powerplay behind the net hoping to score, and is still always on at the refs!

The ref can talk to the players and clarify a call if neccessary. TBH I can't think of any reason at all, why anyone needs to talk to the ref.

Apparently Jade Wants A 2 Year Contract With Nottingham Why would he want that? Job security? Jade's never played two complete seasons in a row for the same team except for the Panthers. It's clear he likes it here.

Apparently Jade Wants A 2 Year Contract With Nottingham Led to believe that he made the same request part way through last season, and wasn't too chuffed when Panthers declined! Could have been a ploy by the Panthers' management to keep him focussed on his game throughout the season, as they suspected his focus may stray to other 'extra-curricular' activities if he had job security for the next 2 years in his back pocket! If that's the case, then the theory backfired big time in Belfast, but still they did nowt but bench him for the second game!! To me, he's such an enigmatic player, who only plays to his full potential when he feels like it, which frustrates the hell out of me, and is why he is plying his trade here, and not in the AHL; DEL, Switzerland or Scandanavia! Personally, after the rollercoaster of last season, I wouldn't offer him a full season's contract, never mind 2, but no doubt there will be plenty who will be clamouring to see him tied to the Panthers until he has to skate with the aid of a Zimmer frame!

From what I can gather he has already signed for us again for next season. Don't know about a 2 year deal though

The only contract he should be on is game by game the only way he might focus on the job he is getting paid for!

So he ended up third overall top scorer in the league, and top in the assists column, by not focusing on the job he is getting paid for. Yeah right.

If he did actually work hard and focus on hockey (and ditch the toddler tantrums when things aren't going his way), he would be top of the charts by a mile. Talented no doubt about it, but the application and the work ethic just isnt there. Unlike many players, he knows he can afford to stop playing whenever he feels like it. He's also on decent money here and knows that he will continue to earn that so long as the raw talent is there.

Simple answer to that is most points against lower teams, and very focussed in Belfast you reckon, points are misleading after all did you see Corey's first goal for GB? If he is as good as you state he should have torn this league apart and helped us win it. he didn't though did he and helped to cost us the league in my view.

This is what insomnia gets you... time to waste crunching numbers on player stats! ;D According to the game sheets on the EIHL website, these are the goals & assists for Jade vs each team (missing 1+1 somewhere! ) shown in order of how that team ended up in the league:- Sheffield 3+5 Cardiff 2+9 Belfast 3+3 Braehead 1+9 Coventry 0+5 Hull 4+4 Dundee 7+6 Newcastle 3+9 Edinburgh 4+14 Now remember... the rest of the Panthers players scored more points against the lower teams than the higher (else we wouldn't have had scorelines like 16-0 vs Edinburgh and 15-0 vs Newcastle) so you would expect higher points against them. Criticise Jade for that, and you'll have to do the same for everyone else. So taking that into account... those points look fairly well distributed to me. Against the top 4 teams on that list, he scored 35 points. Against the next 4, he scored 38 points. Then, of course, there's Edinburgh... but that would skew the curve for anyone! So... stats-wise, I can't see any reason to criticise him. It's the intangibles that are the issue, I think...

Every Panthers team needs a scapegoat. A player to point the finger at when things dont go to plan. It seems to be in our nature.
I remember when we played in the old barn. There was a guy who sat behind the goal, who would criticise Randall Weber every time he came on to the ice. He could no right in this guys eyes, yet other players, who would coast through games (it happened back then as well), would go unchastised by this guy.
