Awesome game, awesome weekend. What makes it feel that bit sweeter is that everybody in that arena other than the Panthers fans were against us. Was annoyed that the Vipers were against us after all we have done for them this year with fundraising. Great result though, we love to do it the hard way!

I can't quite believe it, I thought Cardiff were the better side overall but they just couldn't put the goals in. It's nice for a change for the luck to be with us rather than against us. Just listened to Danny's interview with BBC radio, very measured, patently bleeds black and gold, stunning performance from him again. DAB, Heerema were superb this weekend and Killer, well he is the best netminder we have had since Robins without a doubt.
The down side with winning the playoffs is that's it for another season, we don't get to see the same players again to properly celebrate. It doesn't seem like 2 minutes since September!

What a game!! the bouncebackability was superb. Compared to our last playoff final where we were not bothered after the oppositions second had gone in! Absolutely fantastic Panthers!! I am glad I gave that little rat Finnerty some grief when he hit he penalty box especially after looking at the photo on the website. Even more sweeter that every other team were against us and we still did it, and as for David Simms! Hahahahahahha

At 2-0 down I wasn't too worried but when they scored again to make it 3-1 I was feared the worst.
The team showed great character and to get two out of three trophies is a brilliant achievement.
2010/11 PANTHERS WIN THE DOUBLE!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOP!!!

I didn't think they'd come back from 2-0 down twice in two games, but they did, tremendous stuff. Well done to them all.

At 2-0 down I wasn't too worries but when they scored again to make it 3-1 I was feared the worst. I had similar thoughts at 4-3. Didn't think we had it in us to win a high scorer against them. Very happy to be wrong in this instance. As much as I'm absolutely delighted this evening, I'm gutted for the Devils (Finnerty aside), what do they have to do to win some silverware?

Many fine performances, but i thought the unsung hero was Nikolov,he was totally composed and as solid as a rock in both games.
Well done guys.

Any chance of getting a copy of that Stratty?... if i say pretty please?... Ahh sorry, really wish I could help. Don't have Sky+, or even any recording device. It's just a late night repeat on Sky Sports. If it's any help it's being repeated again at 9am tomorrow so if you know anybody who could record that for you maybe?

Congratulations from Sheff. Obviously I would like to be celebrating tonight but it wasnt to be. We lost yesterday but I was still smiling as it was such a good game. You won today but I was still smiling as it was again a very good game. And all in all you deserved it as you went down by 2 goals twice and came back. Heads never went down. Credit to you guys for that. Discipline was there this weekend. So many times where you would have reacted earlier in the season and didn't. Credit to you for that also. I thought Cardiff were the better team but you took your chances and found a way to win. Great weekend as always and the whatever the result wouldn't change that. Glad it is back here for 5 more years, the NIC really has everything going for it and its a fantastic place to watch hockey. Enjoy it guys. If you keep Neilson then it could be your season next year. Replace then you could be back to square one. Since Stracs has got on boards things have changed for the better for you guys. I want to Steelers to win all the time obviously but as much as I dislike you I want you to win the league so I dont have to hear us chant 1956. I cringe every time. Then you can have another holiday from winning

Unbelievable!!! what a day, what a final! what a 3rd period! Danny was right, they didn t know when they were beaten this weekend.
I had a slight feeling after 40 mins we d turn the day in our favour as effectively it was only a 1 shot game.
Awesome
Well done Panthers, superb
Does this make us this seasons most sucessful team?

I dont think words can describe how much all this weekend has drained me emotionally BUT unbelievably proud of every single player - when we all were shouting for their heads, Corey's head, GM's head, it would have been so easy for them to just give up and not bother but 3 months later we have 2 trophies and made history. Just incredible.

to be honest Pies the shouting was for changes to be made and changes were made, yes the coach wasnt sacked but we all could see the gung ho approach was seriously curtailed and a defensive system was put in place which meant we saw out the season as one of if not the most successful team in the league. Yes it was too little too late but at least a change was made...
Now maybe next season that approach can be adopted alot more when necessary, yes gung ho can be fun to watch but it wins sod all, perhaps when a game is won we can then see out the time rather than loose 2 goal leads in the last 10 mins... and if thats the case then i am happy for the status Quo however i am yet to be convinced time will tell eh...

Awesome!! Awesome!! Devils fans singing on saturday was fantastic! Love the Clan fans, eat with a lovely pair of die hard steeler fans, sat next to a couple of Bison fans on saturday. And what games!! ... this was our first playoff finals, loved every minute of it. It better be like this for the next five years Was a cracking atmosphere, seemed everyone was against us on Sunday - which made it feel even sweeter. That was a cracking couple of days

I notice that a bunch of North Americans, who do things "the other way around" (apparently) managed to point out that this was the second trophy won by the Panthers in an inoffensive manner.
Curious.

Cardiff Devils 4 Nottingham Panthers 5 (Official take)
For the second year in a row, Cardiff ended up as the bridesmaids in the Play Off final. They lost out to Belfast last year and had the chance to get revenge over Nottingham who had beaten them in the 2007 final. Having taken an early two-goal lead and looking as though they were going to get the better of the Panthers for that 2007 loss, they gave up two goals in a four-minute spell in the third period for the Panthers to end any hopes the Devils had of revenge. It had all started so well for the team from the Welsh Capital as the league’s leading scorer Jon Pelle put them in front at 8.51. The Devils doubled their advantage at 11.30 with a goal from Craig Weller. The Panthers pulled one back at 14.03 as sniper David-Alexandre Beauregard was on hand to score.
Inside the first minute of the second period, the Devils regained their two-goal lead as Ryan Finnerty struck home. However, the Panthers had reduced the leeway less than a minute later as Matthew Myers netted at 21.16. Just before the midway point Nottingham were back on level terms with a goal from Jeff Heerema at 29.10. It stayed that way until 38.02 when Brad Voth gave the Devils the lead back going into the third period.
The Devils outshot the Panthers 2 to 1 in the third period but found goaltender Craig Kowalski in the form of his life as he turned away everything that was fired at him. This gave his teammates the fire in their bellies to get back on level terms at 44.50 with a goal from Billy Ryan. Then at 48.56 Panthers went in front for the first time in the game as Beauregard got his second goal of the game that also turned out to be the game winner. With the clock running down and with Cardiff desperate to find a goal to send the game into overtime they ran into penalty trouble with just over two minutes remaining. Scott Matzka received a minor penalty for elbows and a game misconduct. If that was not bad enough Ryan Finnerty was penalised with a minute to go to make it a uphill struggle for the Devils to get a leveller. Panthers seen out the last minute of play and started to celebrate a cup double. To end a disappointing day for the Devils bench coach Neil Francis received a match penalty at the end of the game.
Period Scores: 2-1, 2-2, 0-2
Penalty Mins: Car 63 – Not 8
Powerplay: Car 0/4 - Not 0/4
Shots On: Stevie Lyle 25 – Craig Kowalski 44
Referee: Moray Hanson

Well done Nottm, worthy winners over the weekend. After you won Challenge Cup I posted that after we beat you in the Sky game you became a different team and would be a dangerous animal to face in the Play offs (me & my gob!). Anyway congrats a double is no mean feat.
