I hope so Bramley. Gritty player. Is he? Maybe I am thinking of the wrong player but I can't remember him being "gritty". Also 5'9. 170 pounds and 54 pims in 2 seasons would not indicate him being particularly gritty...

I hope so Bramley. Gritty player. You might be thinking Gleed mate. Benedict is a centre I believe and a very good one too.

By gritty i didn't mean big or tough. I meant gets in dirty areas a la Tyler Michel etc.

Martin Cingel leave's the Caps! Whilst that is a bit shocking to say they'll be in the EIHL next year, if anyone deserves to go and try and make more money it's him.

Martin Cingel leave's the Caps! Sad day up there. He was Mr Edinburgh Capitals. Just goes to show how bad things are up in Murrayfield. Rumoured to be heading to the Phoenix. Good signing for them if true.

Not be long who we find out who will be Lepines punchbag this season ;D I do rate Lepine as a fighter but I doubt either of those guys would be a punch bag. Bootland in particular looks very tough and has over 3000 PIMS in his career.

When i watched Bootland for the wings, i never saw him has been overly tough, hes a very able fighter though and sticks in there, i think he ll be good for 20 goals too

I reckon he would easily be good for a point a game in the EIHL. He has a better PPG record in the AHL than Ben Simon, Sean McAslan and Bruce Richardson who have all managed more than a PPG in our league.

When i watched Bootland for the wings, i never saw him has been overly tough, hes a very able fighter though and sticks in there, i think he ll be good for 20 goals too He is (was) a pretty firm checker and whilst some may not have considered him 'tough' whilst at the Red Wings (remembering he played alongside Avery, McCarty and Shanahan) he was never afraid to stand-up for his team mates. 13 fights in 22 games during the 03-04. Alright, fighting isn't the be all and end all but having a player such as him watching your back allows other players a certain degree of freedom, as Panthers players found last year with Lepine and Penner around. The issue though is how the EIHL refs would deal with his tougher (for this league) play. As we saw last season, they don't deal very well with harder hitting players, even when their hits are legal (with the benefit of 'super-slo-mo' EIHL replay vision or not).

Heard over the weekend from colleague in USA that Jon Mirasty is rumoured to be UK bound. He's 29, and a winger. New Steelers signing?

If you could choose 1 of the following Centres and 1 of the following wingers to complete our forward line up which 2 would you go for?
Centres = Daniel Tkaczuk, Brandon Benedict, Paul Deniset, Jeff Legue
Wings = Jade Galbraith, Bobby Robbins, Colt King, Brendan Cook

Legue and King even though Cook is one of my favourite ever Panthers, I would love to see Colt King here.

Provided the Caps do indeed continue to ice a team - you know it's bad when Martin Cingel leaves after 9 seasons there!! Speaking of which, its all but confirmed he's heading to the Phoenix.
