You guys have got it all wrong - this guy just wanted to prove we arent the most hated team in the league and thought he'd join in.... Also it just occured to me, I wonder if he (and the others in the picture) were confused when Belfast pulled their goalie even though they were winning!

They did announce at the game well into the third period that Panthers were winning on aggregate, in an attempt to crank up the atmosphere.
What struck me prior to the game was the amount of Belfast fans who wanted to see a good game, over and above them winning the trophy. Although after I suggested we would be happy to let them win on Saturday in exchange for Panthers winning the cup, they said that it wasnt really a good deal, as they would win both!
Credit to them though, as a fair number waited to see us lift the trophy.

a few thoughts on the belfast arena; Why in a challenge cup game was there less giants fans than there was nottingham fans at the first leg? I mean at least 4 of their blocks were only full because they were giveaways to primary schools? I didnt think Giants had problems making up numbers. Do the fans care more about hockey or free food? The loudest cheer of the night from then was to win a free pizza, kind of annoying when the games in play etc. However the subway launching dude was awesome. Giants fans very receptive, my brother and I wandered round belfast in our jerseys for the 2 days and had no problems, there was no abuse or harrasmant from giants fans at the game (that I saw) and we met some great guys n girls in Rockies later too Met some awesome panthers fans out there, will definately be visiting different blocks to say Hi next season. All in all an excellent 2 days, although now I'm broke, very broke, worth it Celebrations if anyones interested.

The attendance was about 1,300 more than the game in Nottingham, surely all of them werent free kids tickets? I found with the O that the music and annoucements seemed very muffled and like it was miles away...prob something to do with the high roof.

Course, it looked like less people to me because of the larger arena and people being spaced out. Derp!

The tickets for the primary schools are not free, they are sponsored by Subway

How many of those school kids would have turned up without being given sponsored tickets?

Still give aways to the schools. How many of those school kids would have turned up without being given sponsored tickets? How many of their parents would've turned up (had to pay to get in) if the kids didn't have freebies? So the giveaway increased the attendance beyond the free tickets. What would've the crowd been like without the freebies?

What a great feeling! Not the greatest game imo, but do I care? No! Double cup winners 2010/11
