Well done to the team, a very tense and tiring game for all the players (and most fans) .
Looked like they weere going to walk away with it at the end of the first but then kapow the second period happened and i think the giants were caught napping.
Third period and it reaaly could have gone either way with both murph and killer keeping thier teams in a game that never seemed to abait as a contest .

Good to see east midlands today could be bothered to let people know we'd won the cup.... Useless! the coverage from EMT is not bad concidering we are a so called minority sport - they sent over a reporting team and I expect a good article on TV tonight - after all the football teams dont seem to be winning much lately

Congrats Nottm, you deserve & have earned it, coming through the toughest group, ok an easy-ish semi but earned that with winning the group. You've seemed a different team since we beat you in the sky game. Pressure should be off a little now you retained CC, coupled with your recent form I think you'll be a dangerous animal to face in the play offs. Well done again (hope I'm not repeating this in 2 & a half weeks time!)

Especially if we can go into it with a full strength line up.

Just got home - what a night!!!
At the end of the first I was in despair. At the end of the second I was over the moon. Throughout the third I was on the edge of my seat. At the end of the third I was...............well words just cannot describe that feeling when you see your team lift the Cup.
At the end of the night - or maybe I should say early morning I was shattered!!
Brilliant, well done guys!
Oh and the bonus - Paul got first goal scorer and mom correct so we celebrated with a few more drinks!

Fantastic night but a horrible tense game to watch. Team Panthers Defence - brilliant. We've won the Challenge Cup the most times of anyone and we are the only team in the Cup's (albeit short) history to retain the cup - I am so proud.
GiantsTV commentary had us in stitches - our new players Gary Clarke, Jeff Herriman, Jade Galbreath and Gueueueueu Le Pine were awesome! And according to the commentary, at one point Kowalski went from playing in goal to playing up front in a number 7 shirt! Oh and the brothers Myers - Matt and Danny (and at one point Billy) were great too! And there were so many "crosseyed passes" being made! The expertly delivered comedy did help to break the tension.
And it was on East Midlands Today in the 10:30pm bulletin that night - Quentin gave us a mention at the end.
Next stop, Playoff qualification - come on Lads, let's dissappoint Brucie!

Steelers have won it four times too, and they retained the cup 2000-2001 after winning it 1999-2000. It did exist before the Elite League era you know!

Hi folks,
What a night eh?
Thanks for your kind words about our coverage - hope we were able to capture the scenes properly for those who couldn't make the trip.
Bring on the playoffs!

Darn - that'll teach me to rely on the Elite League website for info! Well, since 2003 we've done really well!!!!

Giants TV was hilarious/annoying
We had Rob Lawolski, number 19 Geoff La-pine (as in pine nut), Geoff Enema, the Myers brothers, Gary Clarke, Billy Myers.
And on Giants team Seeemon Lambeeer (just say Simon Lambert!!)
"Who is Billy Ryan?"
(After a penalty called) "Why are they taking the faceoff at the other end of the ice?"
Not being funny but any commentator worth their salt would surely bother to learn the opposition teams names and have a basic grasp of the rules.
And to think people were worried about Colin Fray on t wireless!!

Darn - that'll teach me to rely on the Elite League website for info! Well, since 2003 we've done really well!!!! Not entirely incorrect. If we're counting back before the elite league, we should count the Autumn Cup, which was similar format and what the Challenge Cup replaced. Ice hockey existed before the Steelers crawled out from under their rock, you know ;D So Panthers have won it 9 times in the last 24 seasons of their 31 season existence. Even the previous team with the same name won it back in 1955. Autumn Cups 1955–56, 1986–87, 1991–92, 1994–95, 1996–97, 1998–99 Challenge Cups 2003–04, 2007–08, 2009–10, 2010–11

Just arrived back having spent most of today watching the St Patricks Day celebrations in Belfast.
A fantastic night and the players and fans celebrated in Rockies until chucking out time.
Not sure when the players got back, as Danny Meyers said they were booked on a 6am flight, although he did say most of them probably wouldnt be on it.
To top it off I met Stacey Solomon at the airport on the way back.

Forgeting the Midlands Cup, regional Southern Cup (though it was a Cup of the day in a league we played in) etc.....in major domestic play we have those TEN awards. If we won the 20/20 I'd not count that at all too. Wish we had done so, then I'd still be able to say the same to those who think we have envey.

Someone needed to explain aggregate to some of the Giants fan's in this photo! You can see the conversation now.... "Why are they celebrating they've lost 2-1!"

The guy far left behind (Gary) Clarke with that look of "Oh yeah, uh huh we won......what? ...what do you mean aggregate score?"
