Taken from panthers website today.
'Daniel's continuing to make progress with his knee injury and was on the bike for the first time today. He's having another precautionary scan on Monday and then it'll be all stops out in an effort to get him back in the line-up in time for the cup final against Belfast.'
So providing any problems with his rehab we should be seeing him again this season.

I heard that he has to dress for at least six of the league games in order to be able to play in the play offs. Anyone know if this is correct. And if so seems likely that he will dress and just be benched for the first few.

Tkaczuk's played 6 games, scored twice and got 6 assists, according to the Panthers App. Don't know how up-to-date that is...
(note, he's been here quite a while now, and there still isn't a photo of him on his stats page)

If there is a rule like that they'll dress him for amount of games he needs to have played before the end of the season. They aint stupid (as much as we'd like to think they are )

Tkaczuk back for the playoffs would be a big advantage. We won't sign him for next season. Winners don't last long here.

Yep we might well sign Tkaczuk for next season..........and don't be surprised if its as the new player/coach. GM is already waffling on about him calling tactics etc as colour commentator on the dvds and nicely lining it up to slide him into the hotseat for next season !

I'll be amazed if it's not Strachan as top dog + a player/asst coach beside him. Maybe Tkaczuk is going to fill that role?

Seems to be working out quite well for the steelers And if it hadn't then i'm fairly certain that the Steelers would have done something about it and given Simon the boot. Unfortunately the same can't be said about underperforming coach's who ply their trade a few junctions down the M1 though.

How much is it down to the coach and how much is it down to the work ethic the steelers organisation put on their players each year?

The difference with Ben Simon the ex NHLer and all the ex NHLers that Panthers sign is that Ben Simon has a job to do and huge responsibility on him to do it. He is still playing as if he were still in the NHL,setting the tone to the rest of his team and to a man they are following their leaders example.
Contrast that with the ex NHLers that Panthers sign and what responsibility are they given ?
They are never given any, just put down in the ranks to do pretty much as they like, coast if they want to,turn it on a bit when they feel like it and generally do just enough to keep the nice little holiday ticking over and pick up a very good wage without really busting a gut.
If you are going to sign a star player, you should use him to set an example to the others like Sheffield have. If he isn't the player coach then make him captain or at least an 'A', that way he has to play and be accountable and drag the others with him. Panthers never get the best out of their stars, they don't work them hard enough. Sheffield have got an ex NHLer busting a gut and setting an example to his team....... Panthers have got an ex East coast egomaniac and a young british captain trying to set an example to their NHLers.
There is a very big difference !
