If you see Crouch's goal again - check out Theo's run as Cole is running with the ball. He takes the defender and leaves Crouch in the clear.
Ian Rush would've been proud of it. Maybe Theo drinks milk........

The irony.
Just when Rooney seems to be okay it now seems England's best player really might be out of tomorrow's game.
Hopefully Gerrard will be fine.

Tomorrow? Gerrard ought to be fine, if we lose him then we really are stuffed.

Sven should not risk Rooney against T&T. Win without him and then bring him off the bench v Sweden.

100% agreement here Sunny, although on the other hand if he does come on and is injured then the waste of a sub will be lessened against T&T...

I'd be looking at playing:
Robinson/ Neville, Campbell, Carra, Cole/ Lennon, Carrick, JJ, Downing, /Owen, Theo versus Sweden should we beat T&T.
We could bring Rooney off the bench.

Dream scenario: Eng 3-0 up after 65mins with Crouch and Owen netting. Theo replaces Crouch and then Roo on for Owen after 80mins with Lennon on for Cole or Becks. Then Para get a point v Swedes so we top the group and TnT end up qualifying next week. Simple.

Very poor display, very poor, reminiscent of the Belfast disaster.
Even so we found a way to win, something that was very hard on Trinidad as I thought they performed admirably.
Terry was a colossus and Becks had a good game but everyone else was a shadow of the player they can be. Lampard in particular was extremely poor and I'd have to say now is the time to push Gerrard on, one shot and he buried it. That probably would mean dropping Lamps but he has been poor in both games.
Relieved to take the win but we HAVE TO improve and do it fast.

Didn't see the first 30 minutes of the game but I didn't think Beckham played very well.
He needs to be much more involved in those sort of games where things just aren't happening for the team. He put in a couple of good crosses (one of which won the game) but as captain, I'd expect to see him doing much more.
Terry is developing into a real rock in defence and shows the determination and passion that should make him the next captain.
One man shouldn't make a team but Rooney's incisiveness and unpredictability are likely to be crucial to England's hopes. The opposition know he can conjour up something out of nothing and so have to focus on him which makes space for others to play. He has his faults but he thrives on the big occasion and works hard - gave the ball away tonight outside T&T's penalty area and they broke away, only to be stopped on near England's box - by Rooney who was first to chase back and atone for his mistake. I like that sort of determination!

I don't know what Beckham can do to be more involved in our victories.
Jamaica - Excellent crosses for two goals. Paraguay - Excellent cross for the winner T&T - Excellent cross for the winner

A poor performance, especially in the first half. The team improved and started to play football after the subs came on. The impact of Lennon seemed to change the game.
We still rely on Beckham to create our goals and we obviously have to improve. I assume we won't play Gerrard, Lamps or Crouch v Sweden.
I'm glad Sweden won as we may want to finish second to avoid Germany.

Full agreement with you bud

Play Owen and Rooney. MO may not be in the best of form but he needs every minute he can get at the moment.

Mmm, I'd have brought him on at half time, but Erksson claims he's 100% fit

Robinson, Carra, Terry, Rio, Cole, / Becks, Hargreaves, Lamps, Cole, / Rooney and Owen. Looks like it may be a diamond formation. I don't see Sven trying Becks at right-back as has been rumoured.

Hargreaves... Joe and Hargreaves were our best players. Hargreaves is a must for Ecuador now. Likely line-up: Robinson (who's been as bad as James without getting the stick) Carra Rio Terry Cole Hargreaves Becks (poor game v Sweden) Cole Lamps (who is god awful) Gerrard Rooney.

Lamps hasn't been god-awful at all. His shooting has been a little wayward but he's been solid enough in his role.

Lamps hasn't been god-awful at all. His shooting has been a little wayward but he's been solid enough in his role. He's done nothing in 3 games. Has created nothing, won no tackles and missed good chances. He's the most overrated player in the world. He spent 12 months making Tiago look bad. He spent 12 months making Essien look bad. He now is doing his best to make Gerrard look bad. God help Ballack. If we play 4/4/2 Lampard should be the one who is dropped and Gerrard pushed forward. Boy I bet Gerrard is happy he never joined Chelsea.

Nonsense, he has won more than his fair share of tackles in the middle. As for creating chances, that's not his game, he's the one going forward and (usually) taking them. Whilst he's missing them at the moment i'm not too bothered. It's when he fails to even be in the situation to miss them that i'll worry.

Thanks Frank. Keep up the good work. En gland to play Hargreaves at right-back and Carrick in an anchor or quarterback role. Rooney alone up front.
