Martin O'Neill looks to be taking over at West Ham. Surely a step backwards, looking through the Hammers squad they look doomed for the Championship.

Its not utter nonesense.
He made derogatory comments about a female official based purely on her gender. Whether it was meant as 'crewroom banter' or not is imaterial.
He made the comments and they have no place in modern society and more significantly, they have no place within a sports sector that is desprately trying to throw off old stereotypes and attract a larger female presence.
I disliked him as a pundit before this and am glad his idiotic comments have finally caused his demise.
If you think another reputable TV station will pick him up as a pundit I think you'll be sorely mistaken.

He made a mistake and appologised, that used to be the end of it.
It's clearly a witch hunt now, he's better off out of there. i hope Keyesy goes too, in fact i hope there is a mass walk out.
Who did Monday night football in his place?

He apologized because he was found out. Would he have put his hands up otherwise?
He is a sexist dinosaur, rapidly being left behind by a sporting field trying to throw off such prejudices. How anyone can anyone honestly defend him?
We caught a shoplifter in the shop I work in yesterday. She was very sorry once she had been caught. Funny that.

You'll be wanting Don Cherry sacked next.
It's the same as when Rodney Marsh left Soccer Saturday, it's never been quite as good as it was then.
All peronality drained away. may as well get a robot to present it.

You'll be wanting Don Cherry sacked next. Don Cherry says what he likes and doesn't apologise about it. I'd have more respect for Andy Grey, even though his sexist comments are deplorable, if he stuck by what he said. He isn't the first person to get caught out but he is one of many who have tried to weasel out of said comments afterwards. I'd rather an honest bigot than one who tries to excuse his actions.

Gray deserved to be sacked and I'm glad Keys has resigned. If they had made rascist remarks, theyd have been sacked straight away. IMO sexism and racism are almost one and the same.

£50m for Torres, if Chelsea do pay that for him then I guess it puts to bed the rumours of Abramovich losing interest.
It's going to be an interesting summer at Chelsea with a few new faces definitely necessary to freshen up the squad.

Andy Carroll is worth the same as David Villa.
Mental, absolutely mental.

£35m+ for a guy with 11 (I think) Premier League goals. Good old Liverpool.

35m for Carroll is stupid money for a guy who has not set the world alight by any means and who has significant baggage both in terms of previous record of getting into 'trouble' and his reported off field penchant for an ale or 10. Massive massive gamble.
Another thing to note as well, for my money, is that Liverpool are, again, missing the point. Their squad, even with Torres, is woefully lacking. Replacing Torres with AC is hardly going to make a world of difference. Charlie Adam? Not the answer. Liverpool are missing the real issue big time and I cannot see this really ending well for them. Of Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool who comes off best out of this? I say Newcastle (wont go down without Carroll and 35m is a lot to play with in the better value for money summer window) followed by Chelski (Torres a risk but a proven player and Chelski can absorb the cash outgoing much better than 'pool) then Liverpool (if anything this will weaken their squad and then still leave them with little or no cash to spend).
Absolutely amazed to be honest. I feel Liverpool are playing a pacifying game with their over zealous fans. They wont go down if they lived on without Torres, they could see out a dismal season and then use the 50m in the summer in a less hectic, less panic driven environment.
Ludicrous day.

I think Liverpool fans need to look at the bigger picture here and make Torres only a part of the equation. They have recieved £56 million for Torres and Babel and 'invested' £57.7 million if figures are accurate on Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. I personally think that they now have a better strikeforce than they had previously. How many Goals has Torres scored this season? Not too many and it could be argued that Chelsea have paid too much for an out of sorts striker.

Hate to say this but Newcastle united will be playijng forest next season unless we sign a world class striker. Carroll, Nolan, Enrique all gone. Barton on his way out at this rate. All replaced by unproven players. If im wrong ill be so happy.

Well for me that was a good Transfer window certainly got a stronger squad than before and the loss of Raul Mereiles is not a problem we now have a glut of CM's and he was behind Henderson in the pecking order and that was even with stevie still injured. For us Bellamy is a more effective player than Raul would have been!
