I know the Forest V Derby game on saturday isn't on Sky. But i believe there are foreign links out there to possibly watch it on the internet, so does anyone know if a pub/bar would possibly link a laptop up to a plasma screen? Rockies?? Other than that is anyone taking a laptop with Wi-Fi to possibly watch it in the hotel with a few beers? Anyone got any other ideas..

I'm not sure it's going to be on. finding a pub int he republic with every prem game and some championship games is usually easy, not so easy north of the border. It was supposed to be on sky and was pre-selected for sky before being pulled, I have no idea of the reason I just know someone on the inside who would have been working for them at the game but was re-assigned elsewhere.
If anyone does know anywhere it is on please share the info as seeing us hammer those cretins would really add to the weekend :-)

Setanta still exist in Ireland, it was Setanta Uk that folded.
Pidge i'd be surprised if there was no internet stream, you can watch most games on the net with varying quality though it has to be said.

yes i know you can, but there has to be some form of tv camera there. Forest v brum in the cup had no stream anywhere,
The only game on setanta ireland this weekend is liverpool v bolton.
So i challenge anyone to find a link to a stream, it also depends if any network have the rights to show it

Adam. Yes it is. However that's not a debate for here in it's wider context (I also suggest it's not one for this weekend in Belfast either!). But in terms of infrastructure such as TV, mobile phone etc Belfast is very much part of Ireland. They get TV3, TG4, RTE1, RTE2, Setanta Ireland etc as do the Republic. If you have a mobile phone in the republic (at least if you have one on meteor, can't speak for other networks to be honest) you wont pay any different when you're in NI (as in there is no roaming charges and you use your usual price plan). Setanta Ireland is still very much running. I believe they also have a Setanta NI offshoot showing NI football and such like.
Pidge, network rights is probably the issue in NI I would think. Go to Dublin, in fact you don't have to go that far, hop over to border to Dundalk and you can watch any premier league game you want and high profile championship games as well in certain boozers. I can tell you the names of several pubs in Dublin that show every premier league game simultaneously on a saturday afternoon. It's not internet streams, it's having the right equipment to receive the channels from asia and the middle east - most of us have that equipment in our homes already, it's a case of retuning the box to point to the right satellite to receive them - obviously fraught with technical challenges and probably not legal to do it either. Doesn't stop people on these shores though - there are 2 pubs within half a mile of my house that show every Man Utd game home and away whether it is on sky or not - I suspect the fact that they have sky + ESPN packages and revert to other methods to show the games that aren't on tv is the reason sky and others turn a blind eye so to speak.

There's a chance I'll have a stream for it, and i'm going to be watching it or listening, little doubt about that. I believe it may be on tv abroad.

So why wasn t there a stream for our cup game , as im pretty sure i saw the highlights of that one. in order for a stream to happen, someone has to set it up and host it.

nothern ireland is the Uk theresfore would be under setanta Uk i think he means, whereas the ROI is not part of the Uk But that wasn't what i meant with my original post. I said 'foreign link' meaning that the last game was shown live in poland therefore it was a foreign link to the game. So not sure what Alf meant?
