A visit by the Edinburgh Capitals, who have been surprising a few teams of late. Thoughts and comments here...

Website's not so sure Bruce'll be back, depends how recovered he is by the look of it ( link). Speaking of the website: It's just pitiful. I dunno if Gary was aiming at a Santa pun there and missed or what. As for the game, if we play like we did versus Hull I think we lose, put in the effort and we'll win.

I'm hoping we can take the points tomorrow, with Cingel back in the lineup it should give us afew more options offensively. I'll say Caps to take it in a shootout.

well done clarke great haul of goals, mann and molin look a good combo glad to see mann stepping his game up, hartley still best nettie in the league fact!
we were brilliant for 10 mins then we thought we had the game wrapped up and took our foot off the gas which is why caps got back in it but after the blip a very professional performance after that to wrap up the win comfortably
as a downside i am disappointed in the actions of larocque he went after simon lambert trying to play the big man. he is ok when he is looking to go after non fighting smaller players lambert/thornton agains giants but he is not interested in a fair centre ice fight with someone in his weight class... these actions are not what i like to see from players in the team i support i expect players to fight and fight fair within their class not talk the talk and then not walk the walk... still waiting to see him look to kill someone as claimed when he signed.
that is not to say i dislike larocque or think he is rubbish, he makes simple outlet passes doesnt often get beat one on one and will throw a hit but to be fair we had all of that with toneys and toneys is a better and faster skater.

We came out and 100mph for the first 10 mins and bang bang bang bang it was 4-0 and i dont think the Caps even had a shot in that time!. We then took out foot off the gas and not surprisingly they got 3 quick goals. We then stepped it up and scored some great goals.
Levers game pen seemed to be a bit harsh as im sure he only glove punched him in the face and didnt have his stick in his hand. Sharpy has at least 6 shifts and had about 2 touches of the puck!
Great news Molin is back he looked very good with Mann.

how can they play like they did in the first ten minutes then completely switch off in the 2nd 10 minutes of that first period, 2nd and 3rd periods were a bit better, netminder needs more protection, ur only as good as wot is in front of you.
Clarkie well done bout time, Mann is picking it up a bit, thought nielson had his worst game in a panthers shirt, great news about Molin, and finally a quick mention for the young brits well done good shifts and nearly scored

10 great minutes, then 10 rubbish ones. Still, got it back on track after we got away with what would have been the equalizing goal in the 2nd and didn't look back. What is the rule with that btw? I thought the ref could give it if it would definitely have gone in anyway?
Glad Johan's back for the remainder of the season, certainly has the makings of a good pairing with Mann.
2 more points tomorrow then please.

Not sure about Edinburgh's potential equalizer but Carson shouldn't have given their third. He blew the whistle for a penalty against the Panthers before the puck went in, then because the puck trickled over the line he gave the goal. Fantastic first ten minutes then the entire team wants to score, no defence and suddenly Edinburgh are breathing down our necks. Thankfully common sense prevailed in the second and third, Panthers running out comfortable winners. Enjoyable spectacle tonight, thought the Caps played some nice hockey, as did the Panthers at times, and great news about Molin.

Good win and an exciting game.
To expand on Spence's points regarding Larocque,... I too do not see a huge amount wrong with his game at the moment,.. but I do wish he would take a Bergy Pill!! He has come in and replaced an extremely popular player in Nick Toneys. Now you can argue back and forth about who is the better player or which guy brings more qualities to the team and it will always come down as a 50/50 ish result. However,.. One area where Mario could ingratiate himself with the Nottingham fanbase is through the physical aspect. Nottingham love a fighter and I think he has missed the chance twice now to start writing his own story. If he had stepped up and fought McMorrow,.. and answered Sharps persistent calls for a fight last night then the crowd would have warmed to him instantly. He's a big guy,. Corey built up his rep "Gonna take someones head off " , but he has not looked interested in a straight scrap since he got here. Fighting McMorrow and Sharp would have gone a long way to establishing himself in the team and the hearts of the fanbase.
I feel he has missed a trick MAN UP MARIO !!!

I was saying the same about him last night to my brother. It really was a good game and he is a solid defenseman. There was 7 odd mins left on the clock, we were 7 - 3 up and he had Sharp (hardly the biggest, baddest player around) trying to start something. That is not the time to say no to a fight (for example if we had a game to win or were shortbenched). He needs to back up the talk that he is "gonna hurt someone" because at the moment he seems only willing to punch people who won't punch him back.

Points in the bag so very happy with last night, great first 10, suicidal next 10. Great goal from the boards from Clarke and the rest from Panthers were nice goals as well. I even laughed as KSP's impresson of the leaning tower of Pisa falling over for Caps 3rd..... have to agree about Mario, cheap shotting players (last night and Belfast) and then backing of from Sharp doesn't help me rate the guy. Play wise no real problems but should be using that size to nail people good and proper and with that arm should be going face to face and ruffling a few feathers and really making his mark in games.... cruikshank would be a nice start.

As another note from the game i experienced the worst case of happy clapping i have ever known... As caps came onto the ice for the first period i booed them as i boo every opposition team as i don't believe in welcoming a team we need to beat and someone (a panthers fan) told me i shouldn't boo them because they'd had a long journey to get to the nic... Unbelievable!
