If we could sell 10,000 tickets that would be 100-120k. Maybe do a special deal for forest/county season ticket holders? May attract more fans due the nature of the event? Ambitious. Would cost a lot in marketing.
The venue would have to allow free/very cheap hire and make money on food and bev. Would be a hard sell to them indeed given the potential damages to their pitch and lack of incentive.
The ice cost would be substantial, especially for a 1 off event. I'm not an expert on pitches, but maybe new grass could be bought to replace the ruins this event would cause. We would have to pay for that as well. Also, a lot of issues with the weather?
These issues could all be overcome if enough tickets were sold though! But in reality, the Steelers are far to weakly supported to make this event viable. They only brought 500 odd fans on saturday, which was very poor. At least half of what we see saw last season. There average attendances have been very low this season and given their recent form, this trend looks set to continue.
I would not rule this out completely as one for the future though. The League/owners are trying to be more creative recently, as shown by the introduction of the tournament in sheffield in october that we I don't really want to remind anyone of!

My guess is a play-off weekend would be more realistic than a semi-final in terms of attendance. No idea if an outdoor rink at that time of year would be practical or not.
