That was actually a really good game. We played surprisingly well but, as expected, were completely out classed by Geneva. They were faster, better at passing, more agile, had better puck control and just looked better as a unit. Parley deserved MoM over Corey imo. Might have only got 80% tonight but he was brilliant - saved some that were destined for the net.

Fully agree, and will keep the players sharp for Thursday's game and beyond. All players improve by playing both with and against people of better ability and tonight will have done us no harm at al. I actually thought their NMs pulled a few unbelievable saves out of the bag, if they hadn't we could have easily had a couple of others.

I was keeping a close eye on them during the warm up and to be honest I'm amazed we got the goal we did (they let us have the second ). Truely top quality NMs, though Parley really was on the best form I've seen from him all season.

I don't have a problem with the game being arranged, but i think we missed a trick with the ticket prices. I dare say people were mildly interested in the game, but not in the price. If you reduce tickets to around £8 each, the extra in the building would make up for the loss in initial ticket revenue and then you have an extra 1/2,000 buying drinks, programmes, hot-dogs etc...

I enjoyed the game tonight, we were outclassed by a better team who had better speed, skill and were just better all round. Geneva never really got out of 3rd gear tonight and scored with ease, at 5-0 they relaxed a bit and we scored but we did deserve a few goals. The players gave their all and the Brits were tremendous especially Levers. Lacho scored which he fully deserved as he never gave up all night.
The Geneva players didnt like Ndur throwing his weight around which was amusing , Richardson was the recipiant of a massive open ice hit which was called as a penalty.
The only downside to going to these games is that I end up wanting Panthers to play in a European mainland league even more.
When you see these mainland teams, it makes you realise what a 3rd rate beer league panthers are stuck in.
Are you joking? They can't even come close to winning the (3rd rate beer league) one they're in now!
Although to be fair, most of the 'mainland Euro leagues' don't have teams as good as Geneva (even playing at 3/4 pace). The top Swiss sides are getting closer to the best sides in Europe each year.
Glad the people who attended enjoyed the game, these one-offs against European opposition are usually far better to watch than the exhibition matches people tend to expect

I really enjoyed that! It was nice to go into the game knowing that we were likely to get beaten badly, but not care as the result doesn't mean anything in the morning. As has been said, Geneva were brilliant - but I was pleased to see that we did hold them back for a lot of the time, and we did put them under sustained pressure on a few occasions. Some excellent individual touches from many of our players this evening as well.
It wasn't quite as one-sided as the scoreline suggests, even if they did pull the keeper at 5-1 up and gift Levers the ENG. Both goalies made incredible saves and HOW HUGE is Geneva's starting NM? Who needs to close the angles, there almost wasn't any room to get past him anyway!
Pleased to see we got on the scoresheet past their second goalie - step forward Rob Lachowicz.. Assisted Ferrara, though I can't remebmer the other assist. To have James Neil then ring the crossbar just seconds later was brilliant too.
I hope the team gained a lot of confidence from tonight, maybe even picked up a few pointers on powerplay formations. If they can carry it through to Thursday, you should be in for an entertaining evening.

Well, so much for assumptions....
Was it non contact? - NO Was it without checking? - NO Was it without intensity? - NO Were the young Brits useless? - NO (who was the only Panthers player to beat their goalie? - young Robert Lachowicz, that's who)
Some nice hits... Corey obviously had plexiglass pancake on the menu tonight as he kept trying to squash Geneva players, and Molin made two good hits in quick succession.... nice try at a hip-check from Levers, but it was neatly dodged. And that open-ice hit on Richardson was a beauty (elbows? was he sure? Looked good to me...)
I swear that McSorley only pulled the netminder so that he'd have another chance to watch the 'milking the cow' for Chelsea Dagger (he was fascinated by it after Lacho's goal).
Geneva made a few oopsies to start with, but soon settled down. They are quality... very nice to watch. Dominated us, of course... but less so than I was expecting. If it hadn't been for dumb penalties from Ndur (who otherwise was quite useful, I thought) and a few unlucky bounces at the other end, the scoreline might have been a lot closer.

I went to the game tonight with an open mind knowing we were going to lose but looking forward to some top quality hockey.
I have come away satisfied.
It was really great to see some quality hockey again with the likes of Serge Aubin and Byron Ritchie. To me those guys were unbelievable and played some top drawer hockey as you would expect from their NHL pedigree.
Their build up play and passing was outstanding. They had a plan A, B, C, D, E and create fantastic attacking plays from nothing situations.
BUT
The big winner on the night for me for the attitude of our players. They had no crowd on their back, no pressure and they never gave up trying to search out that goal. Our chances were limited but we did create some chances and our goal was deserved. Chris McSorelys reaction was priceless. He couldn't believe the roar of those in present nor the chelsea dagger that followed. Let's be straight here, we were never going to win to but to get on the scoresheet was a massive reward for our teams effort and determination.
It was fitting that Lacho should score. A Brit. A 3rd line Brit who alone with James Neil and Joe Graham really did themselves proud and justified their ice time. Ferrara got an assist too.
Our second goal, well I think C McS enjoyed the celebration so much that he gave us that. Nevertheless, Levers scored and empty netter from his own defensive 3rd and deserves the recognition.
On a final note, the game was played in the spirit it was intended and it was nice to see both Panthers and Geneva unite for a celebratory wave at the end.

The one thing I noticed with Geneva is that they fell over. A lot. They recovered very quickly but it seems strange that a team with such skill would fall over of their own accord so often.

Nothing to add that hasn't been said already, well worth 13 quid to me, very good game. Turn out wasn't great though, Upshall's point about reduced prices seems pretty valid, not sure we'll be seeing that sort of challenge game again for a while.
