I must say I found that quite amusing, even if it was meant tounge-in-cheek.
In their short history the Vipers have hardly been the most prudent of businesses with their money, in fact everytime they've managed to make any serious money they seem to just go straight out and partake in some urine/vertical masonry action.
Aye, I'm sure bank managers would be queuing up to loan money to the Vipers given their sterling credit history!
Its pretty typical of coventry to flount rules at home though, Thomson seems to think he can do whatever he likes there up to and including berating refs who he feels arent favouring the home side...
Lets be honest though, Thomson doesn't need to be on home patch to do that. He is the same at the NIC, constantly shouting for calls that aren't there and berating refs at every opportunity. Funnily enough he seems significantly quieter if a certain scotsman is wearing the stripes. Wonder why that is. I say if you can't beat them, join them.... get someone loud and not scared to mouth off at refs behind the bench. I'm more than happy to shout from the bench instead of the stands
Not jealous or bitter if we need money we can just go to the Northern Bank!!! didnt say you were doing anything wrong, just how it could annoy the smaller clubs who have to struggle by playing without imports when injuries occur.
Sorry, but that's absolute rubbish as your original post quite clearly has a snide swipe at the Panthers.
You might be saying Panthers breaking any rules, but it's coming across as moralistic criticism, especially given the above quoted post.

I agree, but what does CN do when we are a Dman down? Pulls a forward back when the team has a import Dman who was possibly the most consistant one they have sitting unused for whatever reason but if rumours are to be believed down to CN.
Whilst I agree that we should have replaced Bergin with Toneys in the game you mentioned, I dont understand the last bit about it being down to Corey?
Corey is the coach, so all decisions about playing staff should be down to to him. I dont understand what you are getting at?

Cannot fathom the workings of our coach sometimes. We had a Dman suspended so he pulls a forward back to defence when there is a good Dman stood suited behind the bench. Is Toneys so out of favour that they would ice a Dman short rather than play him? And now we have a forward import out injured so we bring in a player who has not trained or played regulary with the team. Don't get me wrong I like JoMo, I think he is a great little player, and that's it, he's a little guy. Bergy is big can hold against the boards, dig it out of corners and screen the NM. Last season CN played forward in some games as we were a forward down but this time......
CN should never play as a forward again - that was one of the most embarrassing things i've ever seen as a Panthers fan. Use Molin whilst we can, he will be loads better up front that one of our D Men

Not jealous or bitter - yeah right and i'm going to play in the NHL next season. Shut up moaning, do Belfast, Cardiff or Sheffield get this much stick? No, so grow up and move on.

The attitude of the opposition fans on this thread is quite sad and comes across incredibly bitter. We can afford to sign a replacement and people are p***ed off about this?
As for the replacement itself, can we make it permanent?
Could not give a rats behind what you think of us or why you think it. You use your resources to the best of your ability. Or in some cases you use resources you don't have and pay for it. Strange how the former is being criticised.
Welcome home JoMo, absolutely delighted you are back!
Genius glad to see those resources have been put to such good use over the last few years
In the last few years i've watched great hockey, in a great facility and i'm relatively safe in the knowledge that my team isn't going to fold anytime soon; and more than likely will eventually find itself competing on a European level. Good use of resources if you ask me and I am very glad you find some comfort in how glad I am.
Once upon a time the Panthers didn't have loads of money in the bank, but by cutting their cloth according their funds and slowly building a fan base even though they were the whipping boys of the league they are now in the position where they can afford to bring in imports at short notice.
I'm sure there might be some sort of lesson here for the management of, shall we say, the more 'whingy' teams. Of course people have to be willing to learn for lessons to be useful......
Absolute garbage I'm afraid.
We'd be in the same position as the 'whingy' teams if we still had the old rink. Imagine if the NIC had been built in Newcastle, or Hull instead of here in Nottingham.
Any club that is fortunate enough to have their council build them a state of the art facility, will be able to pull in bigger crowds.
I would suggest Panther fans consider themselves very very fotunate.
Sorry sambo but that is wrong on so many levels. The only viable option other than Nottingham was Sheffield. The BOC decided to back Nottingham as the location to go with. Even so, the fact it is a National Ice Centre is irrelevant, Panthers are tenants at the arena - an arena that would have been built, with an ice plant if required, regardless of the moniker 'National Ice Centre' being attached or not.
Also the new arena is only a small element of why we are big enough to have some financial stability today. The history and longevity of the organisation has to be considered. Even with a National Ice Centre in their own back yard which of the various failed Newcastle franchises do you think would have grown into something resembling the modern day Nottingham Panthers? They have an arena, that is bigger than the Trent FM Arena and have had to relocate because it's too costly.
I consider myself fortunate to have been born and raise din Nottingham and therefore having grown up supporting two teams which I am immensely proud of, I consider myself fortunate that we had a world class facility built in a world class, well located, vibrant city? But life has it's breaks, some good, some bad and you take the rough with the smooth.

and what was i saying yesterday that panthers will go down the route of replacing bergin with a forward rather than a d man, told you panthers don t do 4 d men lol.
Has it never occurred to anybody in the Notts Org or Fanbase that this is one of the reasons other fans dislike the panthers so much, the "Chelsea syndrome", and thats why so many people get quite smug when you dont win anything.
Then again i suppose you dont care anyway

Disagree, you still need business acumen. Having a large arena didn't stop Manchester Storm going out of business or Steelers going bankrupt several times.

No dont agree with that because nottingham have done it, its bad senario, any club that could afford to chop and change at will would be in the firing line

If people get annoyed at the fact that a better supported/better funded club can afford better/more players then pro sports isn't the place for them IMO.
Re: Molin in for weekend! « Result #37 Today at 1:54pm »
Its up to the smaller clubs to get fans in then isn't it? Surely the more work you do to try get fans in which is what panthers do pays off in situations like this. It maybe just me!
it could annoy the smaller clubs who have to struggle by playing without imports when injuries occur.
We did that for a very long time before we got into the position we are now.
I don't agree with some of what the Panthers have done recently, but I don't see what the problem is here. The "Nottingham have done it, therefore it must be bad" mentality isn't helping anyone.

I could understand if we are doing something wrong but the rules changed this year so i think they did a great job in getting molin in as a spare. Obviously not a panthers fan then.
What's that sprawling over the ice, is it a Verner, is it a Verner?

Quite frankly I find the jealousy and bitterness because we are a cash rich club quite astonishing! I'd be concerned if we were doing something wrong, but we're not. Perhaps they're bitter because we haven't shared our money with them

Can't speak for anyone else, but personally: nope, don't care. I probably care about as much as the fans of smaller teams care what I think when their teams beat us by spending more than they can afford then go round cap in hand complaining about how poor they are.
P.S. I wish Panthers took advantage of the extra spending power brought by a bigger fan base more often.

Impossible to compare the two - Chelsea make a huge financial loss every year and have their rich sugar daddy Mr Abramovich to underwrite these losses whereas Panthers run a tight ship make their own money and budget accordingly

it'll just make things sweeter when in a dreary and fortunate way we beat you (again) this weekend. (Not sure how often Molin will have played somewhere like Piddly Way before, so hoping that can be used to our advantage.)

So, will we make other changes? I dont like the idea of going into the games with only 4 dmen. Especially when one is our only enforcer now, one is the coach, one is the captain and one is still settling in. Hardly the settled, airtight defence we are looking for.
